New Scoping Study Report on Impacts on Veterans of Iraq & Afghanistan Wars Received by RSL
The RSL has received the final report of its specially commissioned Scoping Study on the impacts on veterans and their families as a result of service in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) since 2002, particularly in conflicts in the Middle East. The Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) Scoping Study, launched exactly one year ago, was funded by the RSL to identify and better understand the needs and concerns of contemporary veterans and their families and to ensure that they are provided with the support and services they require and deserve.
RSL Supporting Research on Brain Injuries in ADF
The RSL has welcomed and is supporting research into brain injuries to service personnel, being undertaken by the Departments of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). As well, the RSL has also repeated its call for the Government to establish a brain injury program as recommended by the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
Project Update: RSL’s Middle East Scoping Study Underway
Late last year, RSL Australia announced a ground-breaking initiative to assess the impacts on Australian veterans of service in our armed forces between 2002 and 2021, particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The RSL has already received its first progress report from the research consortium that shows the project is progressing well and is on time.
