RSL Extends Condolences over Townsville Training Fatality

MEDIA RELEASE

The Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL) has extended its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the Australian Defence Force soldier fatally injured in a training incident west of Townsville, Queensland, yesterday.

One soldier died and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash just before 7pm after their vehicle rolled over during a training course at the Townsville Field Training Area.

The RSL says the tragic incident highlights the risks faced by our service personnel in training as well as in conflict situations.

With a strong military presence in Townsville, the tragedy will be hard felt by the local community.

The RSL extends its deepest sympathy to all those impacted and wishes the two injured soldiers a speedy recovery.
