What is the RSL Veterans’ Employment Program?

The RSL Veterans’ Employment Program is a FREE program that assists veterans, their immediate family members and partners to find rewarding work. It doesn’t matter how long ago you served, what stage you are at in your work journey, or how old you are. We can support you with career transition and navigation, writing CVs, cover letters and preparing for interviews. We have an extensive employer network seeking to employ skilled veterans and their family members. We can help connect you and support you to get a foot in the door. ​

Why is RSL offering this program?  

RSL Australia is the nation’s largest Ex-Service Organisation, supporting veterans and their families for over 100 years. We have over a thousand sub-branches across Australia offering various support services. The RSL Veterans’ Employment Program is one of the support services we offer.

 

Who is eligible for the program?

VETERANS - If you served at least one full day in the Australian Defence Force, we can help you. It doesn’t matter how long ago you served.

PARTNERS & IMMEDIATE FAMILY - This free program is available to partners and immediate family members of veterans and current ADF personnel, including partners and immediate family members of deceased veterans.

RESERVISTS - If you have served at least one full day in the Australian Defence Force as a reservist we can help you.

ALLIED VETERANS - If you are a Allied veteran requiring employment support, please contact us for further information.

If you are transitioning out of the Australian Defence Force, contact your Transition Coach to discuss what career support services are available to you. 

Do I need to be a member of the RSL to enrol in the Program?

No, you do not need to be an RSL member to enrol in the Program.

What type of support can the program offer me?

Our services include:

  • Career transition (assisting with translating your military skills and experience for a future civilian career)

  • Career navigation (advice for navigating career options and pathways)

  • Career coaching (helping you decide what you’d like to do)

  • Assistance to create or update your CV

  • Assistance with writing cover letters

  • Preparation for interviews

  • Advice regarding pathway programs to upskill or retrain

  • Connections to potential employers.

Do I need to take advantage of all the services in the program?

No. When you speak to a RSL Employment Consultant you’ll discuss which parts of the program you would benefit from.

How much does the Program cost?

Nothing! The RSL Veterans’ Employment Program has received grant funding from the Australian Government and is free to access.

How does it work?  

Complete an Expression of Interest form and an RSL Employment Consultant will contact you to discuss your aspirations, explain the services we can offer and assess which parts of the program you would benefit from.

What types of companies hire veterans?

We work with a range of companies across a variety of industries all across Australia. These companies value the skills and experience that veterans bring to their workforce.
