Leave a Gift in your Will
RSL Australia relies heavily on the community's generosity to support veterans and their families. Leaving a gift in your Will to RSL Australia allows us to continue to support the veteran community long into the future.
Once you’ve taken care of your family, you can choose to leave some of what is remaining to charity. RSL Australia would be truly grateful if you left a bequest to RSL Australia for use by the RSL Foundation.
The RSL Foundation helps ensure that RSL Australia can continue its vital role as the national voice for veterans and their families — now and into the future. Your donation to the RSL Foundation helps us:
Advocate nationally for the rights, entitlements, and wellbeing of veterans and their families
Support opportunities for veterans to connect, build community, and thrive beyond service
Fund national awards and scholarships that recognise cadets, students, and emerging leaders who carry forward the spirit of service
Strengthen our mission to help veterans and defence families live with dignity, opportunity, and respect.
Even a gift of just 1% of your estate can make a huge difference. Doing so will ensure that the legacy you leave behind is compassionate, meaningful and aligned with the values you carried through life.
How to leave a gift in your will
Write or update your will
We recommend seeking legal advice when creating or updating your Will. Prepare as many details of your finances as possible before seeing your solicitor. It may also help to sit down with your family beforehand and decide how much you could realistically afford to give as a gift. RSL Australia has teamed up with Safewill, Australia’s leading online will-writing platform, enabling you to create a personalised Will in less than 20 minutes. Our partnership allows RSL supporters to write a legal will for just $80 (usually $160).
Choose the type of gift you’d like to leave
Residual gift - A residuary gift is the most effective way to leave a gift in your Will to RSL Australia. It’s the remainder of your estate after you have made provisions for your family and friends.
Percentage gift (%) - A percentage of your estate is the nominated portion or fixed percentage of your estate to RSL Australia. A percentage gift also keeps up with inflation.
Pecuniary gift - A pecuniary gift is a specific amount of money left for RSL Australia.
Suggested wording
I give and bequeath free of all duties and taxes,
The residue of my estate, or
X% of my whole estate, or
X% of the residue, or
The specific sum of $XX
To The Returned & Services League of Australia Ltd, RSL Foundation (ABN: 63 145 836 487) of Campbell ACT and I declare that the official receipt of The Returned & Services League of Australia Ltd shall be sufficient discharge of the same.
